8.3 Was Running, Had Power Outage, Now Won’t Boot, Was Booting from FLASH
A CSMIM2 was running before a power outage occurred, and now it will not boot. The CSMIM2 was booting from FLASH.
Place the CSMIM2 in the Setup Mode. To do this reseat the CSMIM2. Slide the module out of the hub and then reinsert.
Lock the card in place using the thumb screws. Press the RESET button within 30 seconds of reseating the card. After a self
test lasting up to 60 seconds, the ATTN LED will come on and the CSMIM2 may display the
monitor: prompt, ON PORT
ONE ONLY. Enter
sequence -d at the monitor: prompt.
Was the reply, “self”?
YN
Set the sequence to
self.
Enter the
image -d command. Four lines of data display.
Does the self test boot image name on line 4 match the image name on line 1?
YN
Was there a line 4 displayed?
YN
At the
monitor: prompt, enter the config command. Check to see if FLASH is present in the CSMIM2.
Is FLASH present?
YN
Does the CSMIM2 boot from a UNIX host?
YN
Does the CSMIM2 boot from a VMS host?
YN

Is the text in lines 4 and 1 the same?
YN
Make lines 1 and 4 the same.
Enter the
addr -d command. Check that the IP address for the CSMIM2 and the subnet mask are correct. Also make
sure the load host IP address is either zeros or the same as the CSMIM2.
Are all addresses and the subnet mask correct?
YN
Correct the addresses and the subnet mask as necessary.
Enter the
boot -v command. The device should boot in 3 to 4 minutes.
Does the device boot?
YN
Call Cabletron Technical Support.
